Hydrophilic Urinary Catheters LOFRIC for Clean Intermittent Catheterisation
LoFric® catheters are hydrophilic. This means that the external surface of the catheter is water binding. The result is a highly liquid and smooth surface, essentially without friction.
LoFric® is the only catheter in the world with the special technology Urotonictm on its surface - a unique manufacturing technology that makes catheterization easier to use. The secret behind this technology is a chemical process that makes the surface layer isotonic to urine. This means that the salt content on the surface is the same as in urine. The outer layer consists of a probe Lofric polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and sodium chloride (NaCl). This combination reduces by 90 - 95% the friction between the urethra and the catheter during insertion. The friction remains low even when the catheter is removed from the urethra compared with other catheters.
